The troubled star is giving it all up for her bump
Danniella Westbrook has vowed to stay on the straight and narrow for the sake of her unborn baby, according to friends of the actress.
The troubled star, who’s battled with addiction for years, believes that the child she’s expecting with toyboy fiancé Alan Thompson will help her stay away from drugs, booze and cigarettes – and she’s even branded the pregnancy ‘a new start’. Danniella was delighted when she found out she was expecting, telling friends: ‘I’m over the moon. My feet haven’t touched the ground yet. From being in the worst place of my life to the best – what a difference a year makes!’
The actress, 43, who’s already mum to Kai, 21, and Jody, 15, suffered a miscarriage last year, but she’s delighted to get another chance at being a mum. ‘She’s on a baby detox and has sworn off drinking, smoking and drugs,’ a friend tells Now. ‘She says it’s given her a new start and that she owes it to her unborn child to see it arrives safe and sound.
‘Danniella’s determined to stay so clean she’s squeaky, and is adamant she’s going to have the healthiest pregnancy ever. She’s even admitted that she thinks it’s “disgusting” when women smoke through their pregnancies.’
On holiday in Majorca last week, Danniella and Alan, 32, seemed loved-up on a shopping trip, with Danniella proudly showing off her bump while the pair looked at baby clothes – seemingly putting paid to rumours that she isn’t actually pregnant.
Earlier this month, she claimed she was ‘just fat at the moment’ because she was happy. During an appearance on Good Morning Britain, stand-in host Jeremy Kyle asked her if she was expecting. ‘Not the last time I looked, no!’ she replied. But that no longer seems to be the case.
Danniella’s also confided in friends that she’s keen to keep her figure. ‘She’s on a baby high. She’s not eating for two, as she’s determined she’s not going to lose her figure. It’s an old wives’ tale that you need to eat for two.’
But old insecurities are creeping in, as we’re told she’s keen to keep her fiancé’s interest throughout her pregnancy. ‘She’s insecure, even though Alan’s fine about the way her figure will change,’ says our source. ‘She’s paranoid about being an older mum, but she loves Alan. She says he’s a dream come true after all she’s been through and she can’t wait to be a mummy again.’
