It's been quite a journey for Anastacia
The singer signed up for the series following various health battles over the years, having faced breast cancer twice as well as Crohn’s disease and a heart condition, and admits that the programme has helped her to find herself again.
‘I entered Strictly Come Dancing to reconnect with my femininity and with who I am as a woman,’ Anastacia, 48, writes in a reflective Twitter message.
‘Not only have I done that, I have also made the most incredible friends and met the most wonderful people working on this show.
‘I have learnt so much about myself as a woman, and as a dancer, and hopefully throughout this process raised awareness for Cancer Research UK.’
Anastacia kindly donated her Strictly fee to the charity and thinks that taking part in the show has been very positive after her own illness, which led to her having a double mastectomy in 2013.
‘I wanted to embark on this journey to show that being a cancer survivor does not stop you achieving your dreams,’ she explains.
Anastacia’s time on Strictly has certainly been eventful. During the first dance-off she caused controversy when she was unable to dance again due to injury, meaning Melvin Odoom had to leave based on the public vote alone.
She also ended up in the bottom two again but managed to keep her place in the competition alongside partner Brendan Cole.
There was further drama in recent weeks when Brendan fell ill and fellow pro Gorka Marquez had to step in to perform with Anastacia, but her luck ran out on Sunday night’s results show when she lost out to Daisy Lowe and Aljaz Skorjanec.
Despite all of the ups and downs, Anastacia is feeling grateful for everything that she’s been through on the Strictly journey and has paid tribute to both Brendan and Gorka for dancing with her.
She also became emotional following the judges’ decision to send her and Brendan home on Sunday’s programme.
‘This was a place for me to get to know my female,’ the singer tearfully said. ‘This place allowed me to do that. The hair, the make-up, the production… The judges gave me great comments.
‘You guys are amazing, the way you run this family. This family is beautiful.’
Awww, we’ll miss you Anastacia!
