Eek - Adele has just been confirmed as a performer on this weekend's X Factor live final! To celebrate, we take a trip down memory lane to re-live the best live final duets ever...

Details have started to emerge about this weekend’s final of The X Factor and we’re VERY excited.

The latest big name to be confirmed for the concluding weekend of the ITV show is only Adele, AKA the biggest recording artist on the entire planet right now – squeal!

X Factor bosses confirmed the news via Twitter, simply posting: ‘Hello.’

The When We Were Young singer joins the likes of megabands One Direction and Coldplay, along with X Factor alumni Leona Lewis, Ben Haenow, Fleur East and Little Mix, who are all set to perform over the course of the two final live shows.

And now the question on all of our lips is: will Adele be performing a duet with one of the finalists??

Whilst it’s yet to be revealed which big name acts Che Chesterman, Louisa Johnson and group Reggie ‘N’ Bollie will perform with, we reckon if Adele were to duet with one of the acts it would make for an instantly iconic final moment.

Although, The X Factor already has plenty of those, of course – check out our pick of the 7 best X Factor final duets EVER below…

Leona Lewis and Take That

Waaaay before Gary Barlow became a judge and Leona became the show’s most successful star ever, the pair met on The X Factor stage as the eventual winner battled Ray Quinn to be crowned 2006’s worthy champ.

Olly Murs and Robbie Williams

It was a match made in X Factor heaven when cheeky chappy Olly dueted with King Of The Cheeky Chappies, Robbie Williams. The pair even found time for some banter during their performance of Angels, whilst Rob finished with a rousing cry of ‘come on Olly!’ #LADS.

Sam Bailey and Nicole Scherzinger

Former prison officer Sam spent most of the 2013 series knocking our socks off with her powerhouse of a voice – but then things got turned up to 11 when she got together with her judge, Pussycat Doll Nicole, to perform I Am Telling You for the final. Just. WOW.

Matt Cardle and Rihanna

We still get a bit hot under the collar when we watch back 2010 X Factor winner Matt Cardle’s super-steamy duet with the gorgeous Rihanna. The pair performed her hit Unfaithful but, to be fair, no-one was paying much attention to the song when their on-stage chemistry was so sizzling.

Little Mix and Tulisa

Mentor Tulisa became the fifth member of Little Mix for the 2011 final, with the girls performing a mash-up of Alicia Keys’ hits If I Don’t Have You and Empire State Of Mind, which allowed Perrie, Jesy, Jade and Leigh-Anne to show off their incredible harmonies in a real moment of girl power.

Joe McElderry and George Michael

Joe played Elton John to George Michael as the former Wham! star joined the bonny lad on stage for a performance of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me – and little Joe could barely hide his excitement, grinning like the Cheshire Cat throughout. Aww. bless!

Alexandra Burke and Beyonce

There was tears, hyperventilating and a LOT of snot – and that was just us. We still get goosebumps re-watching 2008 winner Alexandra’s duet with Queen Bey now. Quite simply the best X Factor duet EVER.

But could Adele be about to change all that…!? We’ll have to wait until this weekend to find out…

The X Factor live final is on ITV this Saturday and Sunday at 8pm.
