Wills hosts while Kate looks after baby Prince George

Prince William hosted an array of stars for a glam gala dinner at Windsor Castle last night.

Guests including Benedict Cumberbatch, Cara Delevingne and Emma Watson attended the do in honour of The Royal Marsden cancer hospital in London, of which William is president.

The star-studded party was sponsored by designer Ralph Lauren but fashion icon Kate Middleton stayed at home with baby Prince George, causing Wills to joke about her absence when meeting Ralph.

I’m sorry my wife’s not here, you probably would far rather you saw my wife,’ quipped Wills, 31.

Wills seemed to do a great job of hosting though as his celeb guests were keen to sing his praises, especially Sherlock star Benedict.

The two were seen chatting away early on in the evening and Benedict admitted to feeling ‘guilty’ about taking up so much of his time.

He is just a stand-up guy,’ the actor, 37, tells Mail Online.

I completely forgot to ask him how he got over his jet lag from his trip to Australia because I was there at the same time and I saw all the commotion when he went to Sydney Opera House.

Hopefully tonight will raise awareness of the work of The Royal Marsden – that’s what we’re here for. Cancer isn’t a disease that needs much awareness but it does need continued funding for research.’
