It’s been confirmed today that Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw will the new judges on the X Factor
Cue the fanfares everyone! The worst kept secret in showbiz has been confirmed: Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw will be joinging Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as the new judges on the X Factor – Huzzah!
After the past few series of the show leaving us feeling a bit lukewarm about the Saturday night show, and with the big boss Simon wanting to shake things up to freshen it up, this pair of BFFs is JUST what the doctored ordered to revive the show back to it’s status of vital Saturday night viewing.
The 24-year-old singer is feeling pretty pumped about the new role she can add to her CV, saying: ‘I am excited to be coming back to The X Factor – I had a ball here in 2012. This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on.’
And we’ve gotta say, we can’t wait either!
We’re imagining Nick having banter with Simon, while Rita and Cheryl swapping tips on how to get their hair so big and bouncy (seriously though, can you let us in on the secret as well please girls?)
But it seems like Rita wasn’t hasn’t always been that psyched about the ITV show, especially as she was a judge on BBC rival singing contest, The Voice. Awkward…
Remember these comments from Miss Ora?
‘I don’t know how X Factor works, I was only there as a guest judge for a day. But I watched The Voice a lot, I respected how it came across on TV and I love the freedom we get as coaches to do what we want.’
The respect levels for this show are really high. It is well received and respected by other artists. That is why I joined, because I really respected the format and how it musically connected to the contestants.’
Ah… Well, a girl’s allowed to change her mind y’know!
And we’re sure she’ll get just as much R.E.S.P.E.C.T now she’s on the X Factor, especially as her fellow judges seem well excited about the whole thing too.
Fellow newbie Nick, 30, has been a favourite as a judge since the beginning, and being a massive fan of the show already, we’re sure he’ll have no problems at his new role.
‘I love X Factor and have watched the series religiously since it started, so obviously I’m hugely excited to be joining the show. Music is my job and my passion and I’m really looking forward to seeing what talent we can find and nurture this year.’
We’re sure 31-year-old Cheryl is looking forward to having a gal pal on the panel, saying: ‘I haven’t been as excited about an X Factor season since I first became a judge.’
We mean…If the words #SquadGoals were ever to be used, there’d be no better time than now!
As Rita said: ‘It’s the new generation taking over. Booooom.’ Saturday night better watch out, there’s some new kids on the block!
Ah we can’t wait! And you know that Rita will Never Let You Down on a Saturday night from now on.
