Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and his actress wife Sophie Hunter have called their baby Christopher Carlton, according to a report in the Mail on Sunday. Aww!

It’s been two whole months since baby Cumberbatch entered the world and, whilst most celebs would have splashed their bundle of joy all over Instagram and revealed not only its name but also the (no doubt deeply spiritual/significant/random) meaning behind it by now, daddy Benedict Cumberbatch and mama Sophie Hunter have kept characteristically tight-lipped about their wee one.

However, this morning we FINALLY have some news in the form of the baby boy’s name – and it’s C-C-CUTE.

The Mail on Sunday reports that Benedict and Sophie have named their two-month-old son Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch – making his initials CCC!

And before you start wondering whether the Sherlock star is a massive Fresh Prince of Bel Air fan, the reason behind baby’s middle name is down to a family tradition – Benedict’s middle name is Carlton, as is his dad’s, Timothy.

As for Christopher, the only significance we can see is that it was the name of Benedict’s character in the critically acclaimed BBC series Parade’s End – but maybe the couple will clear that up soon!

Baby Cumberbatch – Benedict and Sophie’s first – was born on 1 June at celebrity birthing location of choice, London’s Portland Hospital.

A spokesman for the pair said at the time: ‘Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son.

‘We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during these next few precious weeks.’

And it’s no doubt been a whirlwind couple of months for the couple, who wed in a low-key ceremony on the Isle of Wight earlier this year, with Benedict diving straight back into work.

The star is currently appearing on stage in the Barbican’s production of Hamlet, for which he has received rave reviews as the title character.

The role has also seen him pulling some pretty LOLs faces that perfectly sum up life’s key moments.
