Blue Ivy and Apple & Moses join their superstar parents Beyoncé and Chris Martin on new track, Hymn For The Weekend
Debuting on Annie Mac‘s Radio 1 show on Monday evening, the breezy track is taken from Coldplay’s upcoming album, A Head Full Of Dreams, out on December 4th.
Queen Bey harmonises with Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin on lyrics that are all about letting your (glorious) hair down and having a good time. According to the band’s bassist, Guy Berryman, the song originally had much more of a party theme: ‘Chris was wanting to write a sort of party song, and the words were “drinks on me, drinks on me.”
‘We said to him, “look, you can’t say that, you can’t get away with that” and so the whole kind of story of the song changed.’
Talking to Annie Mac, Guy Berryman also spilled on what it was like working with Beyoncé: ‘She’s incredibly professional – I think she was in and out [of the studio] in five minutes! We’re just so blessed to have her sing on one of our songs.’
What’s more, if you listen closely enough you can hear that some A-List kids have also turned up for the party: Bey’s daughter, Blue Ivy, and Chris’ children Apple and Moses!
The song also entails a lot of festive “join in, everybody!” claps and the occasional shaking of some jingle bells, so it just may qualify as a Christmas song…
