After turning down his proposal last year, the singer's had a change of heart
Britney Spears‘ new single Hold It Against Me might be breaking records in the US, but her personal life is – as ever – in turmoil.
The 29-year-old singer’s gutted that her boyfriend of two years Jason Trawick, 44, didn’t put a ring on it over Christmas, despite her turning down his proposal last November in Mexico.
Jason somewhat foolishly popped the question as though it was a business transaction,’ says a close friend.
Britney’s mum said she wasn’t surprised she turned him down because she’s a romantic at heart, but the big issue for Brit was getting him to bond with her sons Sean, five, and Jayden, four.
Since then, Jason’s really proved himself as a potential dad, playing sports with them, buying toys and even tucking them in at night, which is why she’s now ready to take their relationship to the next level.
‘She was hoping he’d ask her again over Christmas, but he didn’t.’
It seems Jason got cold feet and, despite Britney suggesting they start making wedding plans, he’s refused.
He’s worried that they argue too much,’ says the pal.
They’re constantly fighting over everything – even little stuff like where to eat or what movie to see. It’s pretty volatile.’
The couple were hit by a global furore after Brit’s ex-husband Jason Alexander claimed Jason Trawick was beating her, but our insider says the allegations are untrue.
I don’t know where that came from but it’s made up,’ says the friend. They scream at each other, but it’s never physical.
‘Her dad would kill Jason if he laid a hand on her! That’s not his style.
‘He gets mad, yells, then storms off and refuses to speak to her for a few days. But he’d never, ever hit her.’
