Caitlyn Jenner is desperate for a reunion with her ex, Kris Jenner, on TV

Caitlyn Jenner has made a shock plea to her ex-wife Kris Jenner to take her back.

But the 65-year-old, who split from Kris in 2013, isn’t hoping for a marital reunion she wants Kris, 59, to let her back on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Caitlyn hasn’t appeared on the reality show since her gender transition and even her big tell-all about the process was revealed in an interview with Diane Sawyer rather than on the show. She also got her own reality series I Am Cait, which insiders predicted would eclipse KUWTK in
popularity… but it hasn’t.

Although more than 17 million Americans watched the interview and the premiere of I Am Cait got good figures of three million, by the second episode it had lost half its viewers and ratings are still falling, with only half a million 18-49-year-olds watching.

An insider says: ‘Despite all the fanfare, the show’s doing terribly in the US ratings. Caitlyn’s beyond disappointed and so are her bosses. They initially commissioned eight episodes, but everyone was sure it would get picked up for a full 20-episode series like KUWTK. That’s very unlikely now.

‘Cait wants to use her profile to help improve transgender rights, so she’s been begging Kris to let her return to KUWTK. But Kris has said in no uncertain terms the answer is no.’

The reality show’s producers, however, would love to see Cait and Kris back on screen together.

Caitlyn’s already joked on I Am Cait about wearing a dress better than Kris, so bosses would be hoping for plenty more of that.

Cait’s so keen she’s even appealed to stepdaughter Kim Kardashian and her sisters to try and persuade their mum. ‘Kris is still so bitter over everything that¹s happened that she refuses point blank,’ says our insider.

‘But the girls can see how upset Caitlyn is that viewers haven’t responded to her show. She’s taking it very personally as she was seeking acceptance from the public and she feels everyone’s turning their back on her.’

KUWTK doesn’t return to US screens until 20 September, so there’s still time for Cait to win Kris over. The pair even took the first step to getting their friendship on track when they both attended a lavish dinner at Nobu in Malibu to celebrate daughter Kylie’s 18th birthday. Our source adds: ‘Kylie wanted it to be a happy family occasion. Kris agreed to put her feelings aside for her sake and she and Caitlyn were all smiles and hugs. But deep down, she hasn’t changed her mind about having Caitlyn on the show.’
