‘I found him in tremendous spirits,’ says good friend and broadcaster Danny Kelly.
‘Surrounded by a shambles of books, iPods and newspapers, he was exactly like his normal self – except that a tube linked his right arm to a bag of very powerful chemicals.
‘And he was wearing his pyjamas.’
Popular Danny, whose manager has not revealed what kind of cancer he has, isn’t short of support through his battle.
‘The nurses and doctors remark on his stoicism and on the stellar quality of some of his visitors; not “showbiz chums” but real friends,’ Danny Kelly tells the Daily Mirror.
‘The phone rings and it’s Elton John.’
