In extracts from her book Storm In A C Cup published in The Sun, Caroline explains just what attracted her to One Direction star Harry, 21, and how their relationship was ‘just a bit of fun’.

‘I already knew that he had a crush on me, he’d made it pretty obvious,’ the presenter, 35, writes of the liaison which started in late 2011.

‘He’d said it in magazines and he’d said it to friends. It was flattering and I found it amusing.

‘He was a kind of cheeky man/boy with a captivating smile who got what he wanted.’

The 17-year age gap between them was never an issue for Caroline, who admits: ‘In the entertainment industry nobody asks what age you are.

‘I’ve never felt I was much older than Harry anyway. I still feel 18 and probably act that way half the time — all those years in kids’ telly probably didn’t help.’

Things were going well between the couple and they managed to keep their relationship pretty private until Harry was snapped leaving Caroline’s house one morning, leading to Caroline receiving a flurry of cruel comments.

‘In the street people started shouting at me “paedophile” and “pervert”,’ she says.

‘A One Direction fanzine had me as a voodoo doll, with arrows (pins) pointing to bits of my anatomy.’

It was then that the previously confident TV star started to feel much less self-assured.

‘None of us expected it to turn so vicious and truly nasty,’ writes Caroline.

‘There was a moment when we just thought, s***, this has gone really dark. So perhaps we did the wrong thing, who knows.

‘Until this point I’d been comfortable in my own skin. I was comfortable with my age, with my life, with the way I looked.

‘I had never really had any doubts or insecurities about myself. Then I actually started questioning who I really was. Am I fat? Am I old? Am I ugly?’

Poor Cazza! She went on to split from Harry in early 2012 and has since dated music manager Jack Street.

We think Caroline’s book is going to be a must-read when it hits stores on 22 October.
