Sam Smith has finally debuted his track Writing’s On The Wall after weeks of excitement and it’s certainly attracted a HUGE reaction on social media (people totally love Bond).

The 23-year-old singer admitted he was ‘so nervous’ ahead of the tune’s first play on BBC Radio 1 this morning – we don’t blame you, Sam! Think of all those Bond fans sat eagerly awaiting the track, ready to pass judgement…

But he’s clearly got high hopes for Writing’s On The Wall and revealed that he hoped it could become the first Bond No 1 – fingers crossed for you, Mr Smith.

The big, stringy, epic tune has got James Bond written all over it and celebrities listening in were quick to share their thoughts about it on Twitter.

Nick Grimshaw – who had chatted to Sam live on air before playing the song – is definitely a fan. It’s even inspired to him come over all Daniel Craig

Er, steady on, Grimmers! Meanwhile former TOWIE star Charlie King – who was romantically linked to Sam earlier this year – also stated that he was loving the tune.

Hell, even a former actual Bond himself – Sir Roger Moore – has praised the track.

Others think the stirring ballad has echoes of the Michael Jackson tune Earth Song, including telly presenter Jenni Falconer

So the showbiz world seems pretty much in favour of Sam’s efforts – but what do fans think?

Lots of Sam’s admirers are loving the tune – a quick glance at Twitter brings up descriptions including ‘absolutely amazing’ and ‘bloody awesome’.

Others have given slightly more mixed reviews. One Tweeter called the song ‘underwhelming’ whilst others have claimed it doesn’t quite match up to its predecessor, Adele‘s Oscar-winning Bond theme Skyfall.
