Smoking will be allowed on soap set
EastEnders chiefs say they will allow Dot Cotton to flout the smoking ban when it begins on 1 July.
According to the new rules lighting up in any workplace – including TV sets – will be against the law.
But bosses say they will let characters, like chain-smoking Dot, light up – even though they could be fined up to £2,500 every time.
‘We will fight it,’ a source told The Sun. ‘We don’t care if police try to come on set – let them. We have to portray real life – and people smoke.’
Well, we wouldn’t want to come between Dot and her fags, either.
