Actress told to fatten up to play Hollywood legend

Gwyneth Paltrow has been dubbed too slim for her latest movie role.

The 34-year-old is set to portray screen legend Marlene Dietrich in a new film, but has been told by Maria Riva, Marlene’s only child, that she needs to put on some pounds before playing her mum.

‘There wasn’t a star in Hollywood back in Marlene Dietrich’s era that was as thin as today’s actresses,’ Maria tells the Daily Express.

Actress Grace Bradley Boyd, who was a close friend of Marlene’s, agrees that Gwyneth needs to boost her curves. ‘Marlene, Joan Crawford, Paulette Goddard – all of us were shapely,’ she says.

‘I think Gwyneth will need some helpings of good old apple pie and plenty of ice cream!’
