DJ buys wedding dress of ditched nurse

A jilted bride who went ahead with her reception without her groom has sold her wedding dress to Chris Evans.

The Radio 2 DJ invited Emma Knight on his show after hearing she was flogging off her finery – and gave her £5,000 for the frock.

Chris asked: ‘What if we buy it? We’ll call it the Drivetime Dress. If any women who are size 14 want to get married they can borrow it from us. We’ll be like a hire shop.’

Nurse Emma, 41, from Portland, sold her house to pay for the wedding – but fiancé Paul Fox, 37, got cold feet two weeks before they planned to say, ‘I do’.

As the party was already planned and paid for, she dressed her dog Dennis as the bridegroom and partied until the small hours with her 100 guests.
