We can't get over how AMAZING Claire from Steps is looking right now!
Yes, that really is Claire Richards – or ‘Claire from Steps’, as Rylan officially christened her on CBB 😂 – above. Isn’t she looking great!?
Appearing on Lorraine on Tuesday morning, the star wowed viewers with her newly slimmed-down frame as she opened up about getting in shape, revealing: ‘I feel good. This is the longest I’ve managed to maintain it. That’s always been my problem.’
Her appearance went down a storm on social media, with one viewer commenting: ‘How amazing does @_ClaireRichards look on #Lorraine!’
‘Looking FABULOUS this morning! XXXX‘, another fan said, whilst a third posted: ‘Omg @_ClaireRichards looks amazing on @ITVLorraine the amount of weight she has lost is fab please tell me how u done it xx’.
Someone else dubbed her ‘very inspiring’ – and they weren’t the only ones to feel that way…
Claire has certainly had her highs and lows when it comes to her weight over the years, and the star has made no secret of her battles to control her yo-yoing weight.
When she first burst onto the scene as one-fifth of happy, smiley 90s pop group steps, Claire was a young slip of a thing at a size 10.
But fast-forward through the band breaking up, her career with former bandmate Ian ‘H’ Watkins going south, and popping out a couple of kids and Claire soon found herself struggling with her waistline, ballooning to a size 20 at her heaviest.
After losing a significant amount of weight, Claire released a fitness DVD Five Step Fat Attack in December 2008. She also recorded Claire Richards: My Big Fat Wedding, a programme following her journey to lose weight before her wedding, in 2009 – but both times the weight soon crept back on.
Claire confessed to being ‘obsessed with food’ in 2013, telling Reveal: ‘I’ve been on so many diets over the years and I’ve realised that all it does is make you obsessed with food,’ she said.
She also revealed in her tell-all book All Of Me: My Story: ‘I have an emotional connection to food. Food for me is almost like a drug – I get an instant gratification from it, but it doesn’t last very long.
‘So then I have to find the next thing to eat to satisfy my craving. You could compare it to being a drug addict or an alcoholic.’
Having revealed in December last year that she now weighs nine-and-a-half stone, Claire recently told Bella magazine that she hopes the weight loss is for good this time round.
She said: ‘I hope I’ve broken the cycle but I think I’ve learned my lesson by saying: “This time it’s for good”. Portion sizes have always been my downfall.
‘I never needed to eat the amount of food I did – I eat a fraction of what I used to now’.
