Madonna has confirmed she will be appearing at this year’s Brit Awards!

The 56-year-old singer is expected to debut a track from her new album Rebel Heart, and it will be her first big show outside of the US, where she will be performing at the Grammy Awards on Sunday 8 February.

Writing on Twitter, she said: ‘Hello to all my UK Rebel Hearts !!! See you at the Brits on Feb 25th #BritsImMadonna #livingforlove #rebelheart. (sic)’

However, we can’t help but wonder if her performance at the extravaganza – which will also feature music from Take That, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran – can match up to some of her most famous showstoppers…

During a performance of her hit 80s song Like a Virgin, Britney Spears and Madonna indulged one another in a kiss while Britney was dressed as a bride and Madge, the groom. One often-forgotten fact about is that Christina Aguilera also gave Madonna a snog, but a cutaway shot to Brit‘s ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake caused that to get missed. Doh!

Super Bowl 2012: Madonna half-time show

Madge took to the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis to sing a selection of her greatest hits including Like A Prayer and Music. However, controversy came in the form of fellow singer MIA, who famously ‘flipped the bird’ (or showed her middle finger) during her section of the show, something considered a taboo on US television.

Madonna‘s performance of Like A Virgin was so controversial, that even the POPE got involved, asking the general public to avoid attending her gigs. During the song, Madonna was seen writhing on a bed by herself and with other people. It later became the focus of her documentary Truth or Dare.

Live 8 2005: Ray Of Light

Dressed in all white, Madge managed to turn the air blue when she constantly swore during her time on stage despite it being a daytime show being broadcast live. Oops!
