Singer Conor doesn't rate his chances this year but just give him time

Conor Maynard doesn’t fancy his chances against One Direction at next month’s MTV EMAs.

The singer, 19, will go head-to-head with 1D for the Best UK And Ireland Artist gong at the Frankfurt ceremony on 11 November – and he reckons the five-piece will win.

‘They just beat Justin Bieber at the VMAs, with 50 million votes or something,’ he says.

‘I think I might have to back down this time.’

But Conor‘s determined to show Harry Styles, 18, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, all 19 and Louis Tomlinson, 20, who’s boss when they’re up against each other in the future.

‘They have a year’s head start on me,’ he says.

‘I’ll get them next year.’

Ooh! We do love a bit of fighting talk.
