Double winner Adele's second acceptance speech cut short
The singer was making her second acceptance speech of the evening when host James Corden was forced to cut her off to introduce Blur‘s finale performance.
‘Thank you so much,’ Adele was telling the crowd after picking up her Best British Album prize for 21.
‘Nothing makes me prouder than coming home from winning 6 Grammys and coming here and winning Best Album.
‘I am so, so proud to be British and to be flying our flag…’
But James, 33, then interrupted: ‘I am so sorry, and I can’t believe I am about to cut you off, I’m sorry…’
Adele quickly said goodbye and then flicked up her finger before James hurriedly shouted: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Blur.’
Adele – who also collected a gong for Best British Female – has since apologised for her angry reaction.
‘I did the middle finger – it was for the suits, not for my fans,’ said Adele, 23.
‘Sorry if I offended you.’
Comedian James was also unhappy about the events.
‘Thanks so much for your messages,It was a great night. Can’t believe i was told to cut off the amazing Adele at the end. #Livetvnightmare,’ he Tweeted.
ITV told the Daily Mirror: ‘The Brits is a live event.
‘Unfortunately the programme was over-running and we had to move on.
‘We would like to apologise to Adele for the interruption.’
