Benedict spends the day with actress Wanda

Benedict Cumberbatch and his mum Wanda Ventham enjoyed the sunshine at the Chelsea Flower Show yesterday.

The Sherlock star, 37, was snapped checking out the displays with actress Wanda at the event’s preview day in the grounds of London’s Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Benedict looked dapper in a pale red shirt, a cream blazer and grey trousers, which he paired with tan suede shoes and a straw hat.

His 78-year-old mother was summery in a bright blue blouse.

Benedict wasn’t the only celebrity at the event – he was joined by stars including Susanna Reid, Brendan Cole, Amy Willerton and Lily Cole.

Amy, 21, had nothing but underwear and knee-length hair extensions to preserve her modesty as she stood in a white shell to recreate Sandro Botticelli‘s The Birth Of Venus.

Meanwhile, upcoming biography Being Benedict Cumberbatch is set to reveal some rather interesting facts about the British heartthrob.

According to the book by Joanna Benecke, Benedict keeps a collection of stuffed owls in his bedroom and isn’t averse to a little steamy Sherlock fan fiction from China and Japan.
