The start of Emma and Matt's relationship wasn't easy

Emma Willis has opened up about her husband Matt being admitted to rehab

The Big Brother host, 38, admits that it was incredibly tough to see McBusted‘s Matt, 31, receiving help for his issues just weeks after they first got together.

‘He went to rehab when I’d known him for three months. We hadn’t known each other for very long and I was kind of in this whirlwind with him,’ says Emma.

‘You don’t really think about it, then more time goes along and he went in again. This isn’t a kid that needs a couple of weeks’ break, it’s someone who genuinely has a problem.’

Matt spent three weeks in London’s The Priory for alcoholism in 2005 and was readmitted in 2006 for a cannabis addiction.

Despite the rocky start to their romance, Emma – who married Matt in 2008 and has kids Isabelle and Ace with him – has always been dedicated to her man.

‘I’m not going to leave him because he has a problem. You have to stick together and get through it,’ Emma tells Fearne Cotton on her show Fearne And McBusted.

‘He’s [now] very boring. I’ll take boring over the alternative. I’ll take the tattoos and the motorbikes over all the other stuff.’
