One Direction star is flattered by comparisons

Harry Styles reckons One Direction‘s hype in America is on the same level as that experienced by The Beatles back in the 60s.

1D are currently building up an army of devoted fans in the States, which has led many to compare them to the legendary Liverpool lads.

‘That seems ridiculous to us, because they were such icons,’ Harry, 18, tells the Daily Mirror.

‘But we watched a film of their US trip and there were similarities.

‘We’re as close as them despite not being together long.’

Harry, Louis Tomlinson, 20, Zayn Malik, 19, plus Niall Horan and Liam Payne, both 18, are currently sitting at No 1 on the American iTunes chart with their debut album Up All Night.

Humble Zayn this week took time to reflect on the lads’ popularity and how far they’ve come since they tried out for The X Factor as solo artists in 2010.

This time 2 years ago I was auditioning for the @thexfactor in Manchester.. I can’t believe all this has happened since!,’ he wrote.
