Couple prove they're business savvy

New parents Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are believed to have had baby daughter’s name Blue Ivy trademarked.

The singer and rapper are reported to have filed an application with the US Patent And Trademark Office because they plan to use the moniker for a range of cosmetics, prams and other future business ventures.

Fashion designer Joseph Mbeh is said to have tried to get ‘Blue Ivy Carter NYC’ trademarked just 4 days after the little girl’s birth on 7 January – but his application was rejected, along with a request from a second company.

The office told Joseph the name belonged to a ‘very famous infant’ and that customers would therefore believe the products were associated to Jay-Z, 42, and his family.

The couple announced the arrival of their little girl via 30-year-old Beyoncé‘s website.

‘Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful,’ they wrote, ‘we are in heaven.’
