Jamie's getting frustrated
Jamie Oliver has revealed that some of his customers have been stealing from his Jamie’s Italian restaurants.
The chef says he had to take action after people began nicking flushers and handles from the chain’s toilets as well as taking 30,000 customised linen napkins.
‘Every restaurant of mine has the old-fashioned Thomas Crapper toilets because I’ve always thought they looked wicked,’ says Jamie, 37.
‘But they’re really expensive and we’ve had to have the handles welded on because people were unscrewing them and nicking them.’
Some cheeky customers who’ve taken home the blue and white serviettes have reportedly started selling them on eBay for around £7.50, despite them being available in shops for £8.
However, Jamie‘s representatives say the celebrity cook may have exaggerated the number of serviettes that have been nabbed.
‘Although we do lose a fair few napkins, it is not near that number. People mostly want them as souvenirs,’ Jamie‘s spokesman tells Radio Times.
‘There is not much we can do about people selling them on eBay.’
