Katie didn't realise she needed to book a smear test
Katie Price has revealed that she’s never had a smear test.
The model, 36, told listeners of her FUBAR radio show yesterday that she’d presumed nurses had checked her during her pregnancies but recently learnt they wouldn’t have.
‘I had a reminder through about smear tests. I ignored it and said to my friends: “Oh, I don’t need that. I’ve had babies, they check you,”‘ said Katie.
‘And apparently they don’t check you so now I have to go and have a smear test. I don’t even remember the last time. I’ve never had one.’
Regular smear tests are offered to all women aged between 25-64 on the NHS and are a way to detect abnormal cells on the cervix which could lead to cervical cancer.
Mum-of-four Katie – who’s pregnant with her fifth child – is now eager to let other women know they should book an appointment even if they’ve had a baby recently.
‘I learnt something this week,’ said Katie.
‘I’m making everyone aware because I was not aware of this.’
