The actress's mum and dad aren't excited by weddings
Keira Knightley has revealed that she defied her parents to marry hubby James Righton.
The actress, 29, wed Klaxons keyboardist James, 30, last May but her mum Sharman Macdonald and dad Will Knightley never encouraged her to tie the knot.
‘I grew up with them saying: “Don’t know why you’d ever get married,”‘ says Keira.
‘And then we did. But it’s been fun.’
Despite choosing to get hitched, Keira and James went for a low-key ceremony which saw them exchange vows in front of just 11 guests at a French town hall.
Keira sported a Rodarte dress that she’d worn before in 2008 and the couple drove to the 50-guest reception at her parents’ vineyard in a silver Renault Clio.
It was always unlikely that Keira would splash out on an extravagant bash after being brought up in a boho home by playwright Sharman, 63, and actor Will, 68.
‘My parents are deeply hippy,’ Keira tells Time Out.
‘They got married because it was the only way they could get a mortgage.’
