The pair are filmed in 'controversial' clip
The footage was shot during 1D‘s Where We Are tour last month and sees Zayn, 21, relaxing in the back of a car while Louis, 22, sits next to him and narrates from behind the camera.
A member of crew hands Louis a lighter before the singer says: ‘So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days… What do you think Zayn? About that kind of content?’
Zayn replies: ‘I think it’s very controversial.’
Later on, Louis films a police motorcyclist outside the vehicle and quips: ‘He’s having a look. He’s thinking: “I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.” And he’s hit the nail on the head.’
He refers to cops as the ‘po po’ a number of times.
Zayn is also filmed toking on the alleged spliff before commenting: ‘It’s great culture this. It’s going to be even greater culture when we get to Jamaica.’
Despite shooting the clip, Louis seems to be aware that its content could cause trouble, commenting: ‘I’m just wondering now… will this come back to me? Who knows? Maybe, maybe not.’
But some 1D fans didn’t seem too fazed when they got hashtags: ‘ZouisYouLightUpThatJointLikeNobodyElse’, ‘zouispassmethatblunt’ and ‘replace1dsongswithjoint’ trending on Twitter this morning.
A spokesman for One Direction tells us: ‘The matter is in the hands of our lawyers’.
