Niall is still recovering from injured knee

Niall Horan enjoyed some Twitter banter with Piers Morgan yesterday after it was announced that they’ll be going head-to-head in a charity football match.

The One Direction singer, 20, is hosting the Niall Horan Charity Football Challenge at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on 26 May.

Niall will act as manager of his team as he has an injured knee while Piers, 49, is player-manager for the opposing group, captained by footballer Robbie Savage.

‘CONFIRMED: I’M PLAYING @NiallOfficial #OneDirectionToTheGoal,’ Tweeted Piers last night.

Niall replied: ‘your not playing on my team! All you know is mediocrity,’ to which Piers hit back: ‘a) it’s ‘you’re’ b) you support Derby County.’

Irish cutie Niall took the comeback well, writing: ‘hahaha a typo had to happen in a tweet to you ! Of all people,’ but Piers warned: ‘You’ll get lesson No2 on May26 – in football.’

Piers later sent a jokey Tweet to Niall‘s boss Simon Cowell, saying: ‘Hi @SimonCowell – just checking you’ve got good insurance for @NiallOfficial ? His other leg’s going in a month.’

All proceeds from the game will go to charities Irish Autism Action and UK Heart And Minds Challenge and Niall‘s teammates include 1D‘s Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.

Niall is a huge footie fan and has been spending time in Spain over the past few days, where he’s taken photos with FC Barcelona stars Lionel Messi and Neymar.

‘Great day at the Barcelona game! INCREDIBLE to meet the best footballer in the world! @leomessi ! What a guy!’ Niall captioned the Instagram snap of him and Lionel, 26, yesterday.
