Four years ago Chris Brown beat Rihanna black and blue. Yet - in an astonishing and exclusive interview - her own dad tells Now his hopes for his daughter

It’s the most controversial relationship in showbiz.

Not only did Rihanna decide to forgive rapper Chris Brown for viciously assaulting her on the eve of the 2009 Grammys, sources say she’s now so besotted she wants to tie the knot.

But while her closest friends Jay-Z and Katy Perry disapprove, Rihanna‘s dad has spoken to Now to assure Chris he has his blessing.

Ronald Fenty’s extraordinary consent comes as Rihanna, who turns 25 this week, appeared at the Grammy awards sporting a diamond sparkler on her ring finger and sending the rumour mill into overdrive that she’s already engaged to Chris.

And according to our sources it will be just a matter of time before a lovestruck Chris, 23, jets off to Barbados to ask Ronald’s permission to marry his daughter.

Many of Rihanna‘s closest friends, mentors and fans are worried about her reunion with the man who left her battered and bruised just four years ago.

Ronald, to the contrary, is delighted.

‘Of course they’d have my blessing,’ Ronald, 54, tells Now from his home in Saint Michael, Barbados.

‘I would be ecstatic. I like Chris.

‘He’s a very old- fashioned kind of guy, with straight-up morals and he’s always been very decent to me.’
