The 1D boys fear they may have caught the disease

One Direction singers Harry Styles and Liam Payne are concerned they may have caught chlamydia from a koala they held at an animal sanctuary in Brisbane last week.

All 5 1D boys posed with Kat the koala but only Liam and Harry, both 18, were weed on.

The chlamydia rate in Australian koalas is thought to be up to 80%, meaning there’s a chance the 3-year-old marsupial was carrying the disease.

‘I’m genuinely scared,’ Liam, 18, tells The Sun.

‘This is worrying. I’d never have picked the thing up if I’d known.’

Despite the boys’ fears, it seems very unlikely that they’ve been infected.

While a minority of koalas have a strain of chlamydia that can be transmitted to other species, the chance of passing it on to humans is very small.

Liam didn’t find it too hard to put his worries to the back of his mind as he talked about his girlfriend Danielle Peazer on New Zealand TV over the weekend.

Louis and I both have girlfriends, so we must be doing something right,’ said Liam.

‘I’ve had my girlfriend for a long time.’
