WORLD EXCLUSIVE The newly shorn hunk talks about the importance of having band mates

Liam Payne is glad he’s not a solo singer like Justin Bieber.

The One Direction star reckons it must be tough for the talented Canadian heartthrob.

‘I kind of feel sorry for him, but not in patronising way,’ Liam tells Now’s Dan Wootton.

‘I know he’s got his friends around him and they go on tour with him.

‘But they’re not going through the same situation as these boys are with me.’

Liam, 19, knows that Harry Styles, 18, Niall Horan, 19, and Zayn Malik, 19, are looking out for him – and he gets special support from the senior member of 1D, Louis Tomlinson, 20.

‘If something bad happened to me tomorrow, Louis would be there for me 100 per cent,’ he says.

‘People sometimes ask if I want to be a solo artist, but it just wouldn’t be any fun being on your own.’
