The two bands aren't close
The singer thinks the hype surrounding the 1D boys’ success across the pond is a little premature – despite the fact Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne reached No 28 on the Billboard Singles Hot 100 with What Makes You Beautiful.
‘They’re more faces, if you know what I mean,’ says Max, 23.
‘I don’t think people really look at us over there as the same kind of band because I think people look at them more like a Jonas Brothers sort of band that are very TV and children’s magazine based.
‘They make magazines instead of actually hearing them on the radio.’
The Wanted are also working to crack America and currently doing better than The X Factor boy band.
Single Glad You Came has reached No 5 on the Hot 100 – the highest position from a UK boy band ever.
Though the two bands have a lot in common, it seems they won’t be hanging out any time soon.
‘We don’t talk,’ Max tells Metro.
‘The X Factor family stick together. They’re very close, you know, all the X Factor contestants.
‘They kind of stay in that one circle normally.’
