The Irish band want fresh starts
Westlife have announced that they’re breaking up after they release a greatest hits album and go on tour next year.
‘The decision is entirely amicable and after spending all of our adult life together so far, we want to have a well-earned break and look at new ventures,’ the band announce in a statement.
The boys, whose new single Lighthouse will be released next month, have topped the charts 14 times and released 11 top 5 albums.
‘Westlife are a family,’ they say. ‘We would like to thank our fans who have been with us on this amazing journey and are part of our family, too.’
Tickets for the band’s tour, which will see them play 9 dates across Britain in May, go on sale tomorrow.
