The Coronation Street actress welcomed her son with fiancé Sylvain Longchambon by Caesarean section on Thursday, though waited until today to make the announcement.

An overjoyed Samia, 33, posted on Twitter: ‘@slongchambon and I are so happy and in love beyond words with our beautiful boy.. ’

New dad Sylvain, 35, is equally thrilled and wrote:

The couple have given their son the most gorgeous name too, having confirmed that he’s been called Yves Joseph Longchambon.

It’s a very special moniker as Yves is in honour of Sylvain’s brother whilst Joseph pays tribute to Samia’s late dad Joseph, who passed away in 2009. The tot weighed in at 8lb 9oz.

Yves is the first child for ice skater Sylvain but is Samia’s second. The TV star has daughter Freya, 5, from her marriage to property developer Matt Smith.

Since sharing their lovely news Samia and Sylvain have received lots of congratulatory messages from friends and fans alike.

Sylvain’s fellow Dancing On Ice skater Matt Evers was amongst those to send a sweet message, writing:

Another skating star, Vicky Ogden, posted:

The news of little Yves’s arrival comes just a couple of weeks after Samia shared some other exciting future plans regarding her wedding to Sylvain.

It looks like the loved-up twosome – who met and fell in love when they were paired together on Dancing On Ice back in January 2013 – are going to become Mr and Mrs in 2016!

‘As you know, myself and Sylvain got engaged in April but because we’ve been so busy doing our house up and focusing on the pregnancy, we hadn’t really had time to think about planning our wedding,’ Samia wrote in an OK! blog earlier this month.

‘Well, some exciting news, we have now decided we would like to get married next summer in France and have our close friends and family there.

‘We’ve found a beautiful venue and fingers crossed it’s free when we want it, then we can start to make more definite plans after baby has been born.’

The wedding planning will probably be on the back burner for now given that Yves is here though – congratulations, Samia and Sylvain!
