Becks will appear on our small screens

David Beckham has been handpicked by Friends star Matthew Perry to feature in his new comedy programme Go On.

Becks, 37, will play himself in a cameo role on the US TV show, which centres around the character of sportscaster Ryan King who’s trying to move on from the loss of his wife.

‘We’ve talked to David Beckham and he said that he would do it,’ Matthew, 43, tells Metro.

‘So that was very exciting.’

Matthew must have charmed Becks into taking part as the soccer star’s previously admitted he’s a ‘terrible actor’ and has no interest in working in the industry.

But Hollywood star and friend Tom Cruise also thinks he’s a natural.

‘I’d love to do action movies with Beckham,’ Tom, 50, said last year.

‘He would be great, he could kick ass. He’s got the looks, he’s got everything – he’d be terrific.’
