From sweeping evening gowns to designer day dresses, see just how much it costs to look as good as Kate Middleton
Kate Middleton is the fashion gift that keeps on giving this week, having been out and about in an array of UH-MAZ-ING outfits pretty much every day.
From gorgeously elegant evening gowns to cute day dresses, the Duchess has been giving us some serious wardrobe envy and it’s got us totally wanting to replicate her look.
We’ve done some detective work to find out just how much 33-year-old Kate’s stunning collection of frocks she’s sported this week would cost us – and we may well need to save our pennies as it comes to more than £10,000. Ouch.
Let’s get a price breakdown of Kate’s amazing week in dresses…
Jenny Packham custom-made red dress – estimated £2,600
We all gasped a little bit when we saw the pictures of Kate Middleton looking like a proper fairy tale princess in her scarlet gown and tiara at her first state banquet at Buckingham Palace last week, held to celebrate the visit of China’s President Xi to the UK. The Duchess is a regular wearer of Jenny Packham and has a ‘collaborative’ relationship with the brand, according to the designer herself. It’s unclear just how much the frock would cost but similar dresses by the label are priced at £2,600.
Dolce & Gabbana purple lace dress – £1,850
Kate didn’t disappoint in the fashion stakes after her banquet look and opted for a chic lace number by Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana to attend a Creative Collaborations event in London the next day. Er, can anyone lend us the £1,850 we’d need to get this please?
Tabitha Webb patterned dress – £375
On Monday the Duchess continued her run of gorgeous looks by donning a colourful blue frock by Tabitha Webb. The dress retails at £375 and is still available from the brand’s website (woohoo!), though there’s a warning that delivery is slightly delayed due to ‘popular demand’. That’s the K-MIddy effect for you!
Jenny Packham sheer blue dress – estimated £3,000 +
Kate Middleton surprised us all by wearing a surprisingly risqué ensemble to the London premiere of Spectre on Monday night. The gown – another by Jenny Packham – featured revealing sheer detailing on the back and arms but Kate totally worked it. It’s estimated that the dress would cost at least £3,000 to buy – better get saving now, then.
Orla Kiely grey dress – estimated £300
Ah we love a bit of thrifty fashion recycling and Kate has always been a champion of this. The Orla Kiely grey dress with pretty floral detailing she wore to a Chance UK charity event yesterday may look familiar as Kate previously wore it a few years ago. Currently similar looks on the designer’s website average at around £300.
Erdem floral dress – £2,660
Last night Kate Middleton was a riot of colour in a bold new floral frock by Erdem. The £2,660 silk number features bright shades of blue, red and white and proves the Duchess is no shrinking violet when it comes to making a fashion statement.
Total estimated cost – around £10,845!
So there you are, folks – it only costs nearly £11,000 to steal Kate’s envy-enducing wardrobe. The stuff of fashion dreams *sigh*…
