June Brown, who's famous for playing Dot Cotton in Eastenders, revealed she's losing her sight and hearing

June Brown is one of EastEnders‘ best-loved cast members, and the Dot Cotton actress has revealed some sad news about her health.

June, 88,¬†told The Sun that her ears popped on a flight to Glasgow, and as yet, her hearing still hasn’t returned. June was flying to Glasgow for a charity event, and when her former co-star Barbara Windsor called her to the stage at the event, June revealed her hearing problems.

‘[I said] are you talking to me Babs?,’ she told the newspaper. ‘Tell me, because I am deaf, you see, and it is very hard for me to hear so I don’t know what you are talking about. What did you say to me?’

She also said she felt it was unfair for her hearing to disappear in that way, especially as she was making the journey for charity. ‘I thought it was a bit unkind given I was flying up for charity!,’ she said. ‘But I only spoke about it on stage because I was having a discussion with Barbara.’

The news about June’s hearing comes just months after she also revealed her sight is failing. She said in an interview on Radio 4 that she was having eye problems, but that her health issues weren’t going to stop her playing launderette boss Dot.

She’s been in the soap since 1985, and has said in the past that her money worries mean she has to keep acting. We certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of Dot just yet!
