Loved-up Ellie Goulding is VERY serious about Dougie Poynter

They only went public with their romance last year but Ellie Goulding has been smitten with Dougie Poynter for far longer.

In fact Ellie, 28, has admitted that she first developed a crush on McFly star Dougie, 27, way back when she was still in her teens!

‘You know what, when I was a teenager, I fancied him but I thought he was so out of my league,’ the singer confesses.

‘Way too good-looking for me.’

How wrong she was! Ellie and Dougie were first snapped together early last year and they’ve slowly become more and more open about their relationship.

Nowadays the couple are happy to flaunt their love in public and Ellie admits that she’s VERY serious about her man, telling Elle magazine: ‘He is definitely the one forever.

‘He’s been through a lot, and he has a quiet depth that I love.’

Ooh, could this suggest that wedding bells are on the cards? Ellie and Dougie have previously denied rumours that they’re engaged after Ellie was snapped with a ring on THAT finger but it sounds like their nuptials would be pretty amazing if they did decide to tie the knot.

Calvin Harris has already offered to play at our wedding,’ says Ellie. ‘Not that we’ve organised one. But the offer has been made.’

Er, if we were you, Ellie, we’d be booking it STAT!

Ellie and Dougie’s romance began after they both went through break-ups with other famous names in the public eye. Dougie used to date The SaturdaysFrankie Bridge but they split in 2011, whilst Ellie’s ex-boyfriends include Radio 1’s Greg James and DJ Skrillex.

She was also famously linked to Ed Sheeran and was speculated to be the subject of his track Don’t, in which he berates a girl for cheating on him with a guy who was rumoured to be One Direction’s Niall Horan.

But Ellie has denied ever dating Ed and admits she’s not happy about being defined by her past loves.

‘I did go on a few dates with Niall but I was never in a relationship with Ed,’ she explains. ‘I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing.

‘I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven’t dated. It’s something I’ve talked about with Taylor [Swift] a lot. She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it.’
