The star praises hypnobirthing for her ‘natural, pain-relief free birth’ with daughter Honey

Any pregnant woman who’s watched One Born Every Minute will worry about the potential horror of giving birth, so it was reassuring (and maybe somewhat surprising) to hear Fearne Cotton share with fans her ‘euphoric’ experience of a pain- free labour with new baby Honey. Fearne opted for the popular hypnobirthing method, which uses self-hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques to aid labour.

Posting a picture of affirmation cards, Fearne thanked her hypnobirthing teacher Hollie Stroud for her guidance, saying: ‘Love my YES MUM cards from @theyesmummum who brilliantly guided me through hypnobirthing before my big day. Having a natural pain-relief-free birth was the most intense and euphoric experience ever.’

The 34-year-old, who gave birth on 9 September, added: ‘My first birth was a different story so I’ve experienced varying sides of birth and glad for both. Although all we want is a healthy baby I think we should remember how amazing the female body is and the strength of a woman. Obviously there’s no right or wrong birth and they can be magical in many ways. I just feel blessed to have had this experience.’

London Hypnobirthing founder Hollie, who taught Fearne at her home, spoke to Now exclusively to reveal Honey was born ‘peacefully’ by water birth. ‘Fearne had quite a challenging birth with Rex [now two]. It was really long and it was difficult so she didn’t want it to be as gruelling again,’ she said. ‘It was a much shorter labour with Honey – in the pool, no pain relief.’

And Fearne – who’s married to rocker Jesse Wood , 38 – carried the relaxed vibe into life post- pregnancy, spending time crafting with her son just five days after giving birth. ‘Up with Rex making thank you cards. #art #nerds,” she told fans on Instagram.
