Geordie Shore’s Gaz Beadle and model Emma McVey are totally loved-up… but they don’t need anybody else to know that!
In an industry that’s saturated with couples that document every moment of their relationships on social media, it’s refreshing to come across a celebrity pairing who want nothing to do with all of that.
Geordie Shore star Gaz Beadle went public with model Emma McVey in August but, unlike his previous romances, he’s keeping this one firmly out of the public eye. Despite this, they’re supportive of each other’s careers.
Emma is the new face of Anna Lous, a swimwear brand loved by the likes of Sam and Billie Faiers, and Now caught up with her and Gaz, 28, at the launch of its latest collection this week.
In our exclusive chat, they open up about past relationships, their career goals and why you’ll never see Emma on a reality TV show…
Emma, as a model do you feel a constant need to look good?
I do, but I’m not one of these girls who get dressed up every day. I don’t wear make-up all the time; it’s literally just for work. So what you see in the pictures are literally just that!
You have an amazing body! Do you work out a lot?
No I do not! I am trying to get back into the gym, and my body isn’t as good as it used to be, but I’m getting there.
You’ve been on the scene for a while now, but is it strictly modeling for you?
Yes, that’s my job – I have my own career and I don’t think I need to bounce off of anybody else. I don’t want to go down the reality TV route, that’s just not me.
How are things going with your relationship?
Gaz: With other couples, the Love Island lot, for example, when they move in together they make a big announcement, whenever they do anything they have to tell everyone – and that’s fine for them. But I think you’ve got to keep some things private. Every one knows I’m with Emma, but not everybody knows a lot about us. I might put the odd holiday picture up, a few selfies, maybe, but that’s it.
You’ve both had public relationships in the past [Gaz had a very public on/off romance with Charlotte Crosby, while Emma dated TOWIE star Mario Falcone], did they teach you to hold certain things back?
G: With Charlotte, it was very intense. But I’m learning it’s a lot easier to keep things under wraps. If we argue, it’s between us and we haven’t got people picking sides and it doesn’t end up in the media. I’m just like, ‘Come on, love – let’s sort it out.’
Gaz, how are things with your own brand, 11 Degrees, going?
It’s my main job – I’m a businessman. I don’t like the whole showbiz scene, I don’t go to parties or launches or things like that. I haven’t got a lot of time and I don’t want to spend whatever free time I get at those events. 11 Degrees has got potential, if things keep going the way they’re going. I’ve got like 40 or 50 staff members working for me now.
E: That’s what I like about him: he doesn’t feel the need to promote what he’s up to or show off when he buys something new. He just doesn’t feel the need to talk about it.
G: With 11 Degrees, I’ve got an office – with people doing marketing, branding – it’s a big business now! I just love business and buying houses, I’m at a point where I’m very comfortable. With reality TV and Geordie Shore, some people think it’s going to last forever, and I can’t preach enough that it won’t. There’s always going to be new people, from X Factor and things like that, and they’re going to get the jobs and soon we’ll be off the radar.
E: I think you’re more sensible than people think.
So when you’re both not working, what do you like to do?
E: We don’t get a lot of chill days, but we love food. We’re not massive on getting all dolled up – We’ve been cooking a lot lately.
G: I cook steaks!
E: He’s good! I make smoothies and nice, healthy things.
And, as Anna Lous is a swimwear brand, where do you both love to go on holiday?
G: I’m trying to get her to go skiing! You can get a tan and it’s the best f*cking holiday! All sunny holidays are the same, technically you just lay by a pool!
