Bake Off is leaving the BBC – and the reaction has been typically hilarious
Unless you’ve spent the last 24 hours in a food coma from eating too many Viennese Whirls, you’ll know the Great British Bake Off is leaving the BBC and heading to Channel 4!
BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Is Mary Berry going too? Will Paul Hollywood still make anxiety-inducing remarks about the contestants’ baking skills? Can Channel 4 afford both Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins?
Well if reports are to be believed, Channel 4 has splurged £25million to secure GBBO – which is FOUR TIMES more than the Beeb’s last deal. Meaning they can probably afford the current gang a few times over…
And, although we don’t know what C4 has got planned for Mary and co, the reaction to the move has been amazing.
People have been losing their actual minds over the move. Here are some of our favourites from Twitter:
Most people are seemingly outraged by the move, horrified by the idea of precious Bake Off airtime being interrupted with annoying adverts and understandably worried about changes Channel 4 will make to the award-winning format.
There’s already talks of a celerity version of the show, meaning it might not be long until we see our favourite TOWIE/Geordie Shore/X Factor stars taking part in bread week!
