The soapstar is the fourth celebrity to be confirmed...
Former Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote has been confirmed as the fourth celebrity to join the new Strictly Dancing line-up.
The actress, who left her role as Katy Armstrong in the ITV soap earlier this year, revealed the news on BBC Breakfast earlier today.
Speaking about being a contestant on the show, the 24-year-old said she was over the moon to be able to talk about the exciting news.
‘It’s such a relief. I’ve known since April so it’s great to be able to tell people. It’s nice,’ she said.
The pretty brunette added how cloak and dagger the whole experience had been up to now. ‘It’s so secretive, we’ve all got Disney names, the code names, mine’s Rapunzel which is hilarious because Tangled is my favourite film ever,’ she smiled.
Georgia, who’s in a relationship with fellow Corrie star Sean Ward, also said she’s prepared for the inevitable media scrutiny into her private life which contestants often find themselves faced with during the show.
‘I think being on Coronation Street you kind of have a taster of that anyway but yeah, I suppose I’ve had a nice six-month break from the street,’ she said.
And the former Grange Hill star, who has some past experience at dancing but in hip-hop and freestyle rather than the ‘technical’ kind seen on the show, revealed she is very much looking forward to the glitz and glamour that comes with the territory. ‘I’m really interested in, the dresses, I’m all for sequins and shoes!’
But while she’s very vocal about the fashion elements of the show, she’s not quite as forthcoming when asked who she’d like to be partnered with. ‘I haven’t got any preference on one person, whoever’s going to push me the hardest or make the best partnership so I haven’t got anyone set in mind at all,’ she said.
Very diplomatic, Georgia!
The star will join fellow soapstar Kellie Bright, cookery host Ainsley Harriott and Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine.
