Khloe Kardashian has pledged to 'always be there' for husband Lamar Odom in her first interview since his shock collapse
Khloe Kardashian has opened up about Lamar Odom‘s brush with death for the first time since, pledging to stand by him as he recovers – and giving details of his condition.
Lamar was rushed to hospital two weeks ago where he was left in a critical condition after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel – and within hours Khloe was at his side.
In a new interview with People magazine – her first since the drama unfolded – Khloe reveals she’ll never give up on her estranged husband, saying: ‘I love Lamar, and I’ll always be there for him like I promised.’
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star – who has called off her and Lamar’s divorce in the wake of his collapse – adds: ‘When I got married, I believed every vow that I took. I don’t believe love is fickle.’
Speaking about hearing the news of Lamar’s collapse for the first time, Khloe reveals: ‘I had to get there. All I wanted was for him to be OK.’
She goes on to give details of the former NBA star’s progress, revealing that – despite defying doctors by waking up from his coma and being transferred to an LA medical unit – his battle is not yet over.
‘Every hour is different,’ she says. ‘It goes up and it goes down. Things are progressing, but it’s a very serious situation.’
And, although she insists she’s not back together with Lamar despite cancelling their divorce, Khloe adds: ‘There is a very long road ahead of him and he has to walk that road himself. But I’ll be there supporting him every step of the way.’
That sentiment is echoed in an exclusive extract from Khloe’s new book, Strong Looks Better Naked, in which she discusses the breakdown of her marriage to Lamar.
Detailing how she kept Lamar’s drug abuse from the rest of her family including mum Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney and Kim, Khloe writes: ”I wanted to protect Lamar,’ I said. ‘I know how badly he wanted and needed this family. I didn’t want people to judge him or blame him. And I didn’t want him to feel like I was giving up on him.’
