Former X Factor judge Louis Walsh has revealed he's not impressed with Nick Grimshaw taking his spot on the judging panel - and that the last series made him 'crack up'
We were super excited when it was announced that Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw would be taking Louis Walsh‘s place on the X Factor judging panel – but it turns out that Louis isn’t exactly overjoyed with his replacement
In a new interview, the ex-judge has expressed his surprise that Nick was chosen for the job, describing him as ‘a strange choice’.
Speaking on RTE 2fm’s The Nicky Byrne Show with Jenny Greene, Louis revealed: ‘I think he will do okay. I thought it was a strange choice originally.’
He added: ‘I thought it was going to be Lionel Richie, and that would have been a good call.’
We guess he doesn’t think that Nick ‘looks like a judge’ or ‘sounds like a judge’ then.
But Louis had only good things to say about Rita Ora, who has replaced 2014 judge Mel B.
He said: ‘I spent a lot of time with Rita, she’s definitely a funny, funny bunny. I really got on well with her.’
Louis also revealed that he didn’t enjoy taking part in last year’s series of the hit ITV show, saying that he was ‘cracking up a bit’ by the end.
‘I didn’t love it last year if I’m really honest with you,’ he said. ‘I liked it and it paid me well, but I think I was just there too long and I was cracking up a bit.’
He added that his favourite series was when he was on the panel with Sharon Osbourne, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger.
‘I loved the three of them and had the best fun ever,’ he said. ‘I didn’t love last year if I’m really, really honest with you.’
We wonder what last year’s co-judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B think about that…
