Liam Payne has become the first One Direction star to talk about Louis Tomlinson's baby news, saying he was 'a bit shocked'
It’s been three weeks since the internet went into meltdown over the news that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is expecting a baby with LA-based stylist Brianna Jungwirth – and now Liam Payne has broken the band’s collective silence on the matter, revealing that the news left him ‘shocked’.
Speaking on Magic Radio, Louis’ bandmate said: ‘Well, obviously I was a bit shocked but he’s taken super well to it.’
He also described how Louis is ‘very excited’ about the impending arrival, and described mum-to-be Brianna as ‘a lovely girl’.
‘He’s very excited with what’s going on with him at the moment and I feel that stuff like that happens sometimes. He’s taking it very seriously,’ Liam told radio host Jo Parkerson.
He added that it was a ‘crazy thought’ to imagine a having a little addition to the 1D family.
Having dated briefly in May, Louis and Briana are not currently together but the star plans on being actively involved in the baby’s upbringing.
Louis even flew his mum Johanna and stepdad Dan Deakin to the USA to meet the Californian beauty and her family in July.
‘Louis is really excited about becoming a dad,’ a source told The Sun when the news first broke. ‘It was obviously a surprise but they are both really happy.
‘Louis and Briana have spent a lot of time together and are really close.
‘Louis really cares about Briana and thinks she will be a great mum. Their friendship has got even stronger though this.’
The shock news broke on Louis’ ex-girlfriend Eleanor Calder’s birthday, just four months after the pair split.
With Briana believed to be currently 12 weeks pregnant, Baby Tomlinson is believed to be due sometime early next year. He or she will be the first 1D offspring.
