People are not happy that they allegedly couldn't vote for Ferne McCann yesterday...
Many viewers have taken to Twitter to complain, and one disgruntled fan said, ‘Fix!! I’ve tried all night to vote for Ferne & got a dead number!! #ImACeleb gutted Ferne should of won!!!!’
However, an ITV spokesman told The Mirror that it was clearly displayed on screen when the vote was being frozen, and it wasn’t actually frozen until all three of the celebrities had completed their trials.
‘The vote was frozen at around 9.45pm so Ant & Dec could announce who had come third place. Ant & Dec clearly explained when the vote was frozen and it was written on screen.
‘The vote was frozen after viewers saw Vicky, Ferne and George complete their Bushtucker Trial. After third place was announced, the vote was re-opened so viewers could vote for their winner.’
This is now the third show embroiled with ‘fixing’ allegations this year, with Ola Jordan speaking out against Strictly Come Dancing and the whole Olly Murs reading out eliminated contestant’s name before being given the envelope debacle on X Factor.
Also, last year saw fixing claims against I’m a Celebrity when Jimmy Bullard’s highlight reel allegedly omitted large parts of his argument with Jake Quickenden, but focused on his mocking of Jake’s singing voice.
A spokesman came forward then, saying, ‘Everything broadcast is a fair and accurate representation of life in camp.’
The TOWIE girl managed to secure third place, with potential love interest George Shelley coming second, after she ate a live water spider for the trial – redeeming the Essex reputation after Gemma Collins’ very short and emotional display in the jungle last year.
Seriously, lamb brains and bull’s penis is one thing, but a live spider. What a champ.
