It's the end of a rift!
Who remembers when Girls Aloud were fresh faced newbies on the girlband scene? Heck, how time flies – now they’re all getting married and having mini Girls Aloud babies and its SO. EXCITING.
The band decided to do a One Direction and have a brief hiatus in 2009 (which, sadly, turned into a bit of an extended hiatus…), and it hasn’t exactly all been rainbows and butterflies for the five girls since then – with Cheryl and Nadine in particular seemingly to fall out in the post-GA years.
But now it seems as though it’s all water under the bridge for Nadine, as she shared how incredibly excited she is for former bandmate Cheryl to become a mother.
Asked by OK! magazine about Chez, who is expecting her first baby with Liam Payne any day now, Nadine said: ‘I’m so, so excited. It’s the most exciting time, scary but wonderful’.
The Irish star then added: ‘I haven’t seen her in a long time, I really, really haven’t. But I’m very, very happy for her and very, very excited for her’.
Rumours of a rift between our Chezza and the lovely Nadine had started to hit the rumour mill back in 2009, with many people claiming their ‘rivalry’ had been the reason for the initial hiatus in 2009.
As Nadine moved to America, which was assumingly in order to launch her solo career, relations appeared to become increasingly distant from both sides of the pond – leading to Cheryl unfollowing Nicole on Twitter in 2014.
Following this, Cheryl hit back at Nadine’s claims that her and band mates Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding made the decision to split up with consulting her, saying in an interview: ‘‘She’s full of sh*t! She was the one who wanted to make a solo record. Which is why we took the hiatus. So she’s not now going to say that we broke up the band’, Cheryl said in 2014.
She added: ‘Do you want us to tell the truth? She wasn’t going to make another Girls Aloud record until she got a solo deal.’
However, with her sweet words about Cheryl’s baby news, it appears that all the drama is now just a Whole Lotta History for Nadine – hurrah!
Nads also addressed the possibility of a Girls Aloud 15th anniversary reunion (please, remain calm one and all), sharing that although she ‘couldn’t even tell you the last time I caught up with them… you never know! We’ve done [a reunion] before’.
Keep those fingers crossed, Girls Aloud fans!
