Katie Price pleads guilty to running a red light and get three points on her licence and fined £1,220 in court
Katie Price has pleaded GUILTY in court!
We’re wating for her day in court with ex-husband Peter Andre next year, but in the meantime Katie appeared in front of magistrates and was given three points on her driving licence and ordered to pay £1, 220 after pleading guilty to jumping a red light.
Katie’s was caught driving her £120,000 Bentley by a camera on the A24 at Buck Barn near her home in West Sussex just after 5pm on 20 August last year.
In April, the Celebrity Big Brother winner pleaded not guilty to driving through a red light and failing to give information to the police. But she changed her plea to gulity before the trial today.
Katie was fined £700, told to pay costs of £450 and a victim surcharge of £70 as well as having the three points put on her licence.
Katie wore some crazy sunglasses as she entered court with her husband Kieran Hayler who sat at the back of the courtroom.
Katie’s lawyer Julian Dale blamed the incident on her having ‘a lot on her plate’ at the time as it was not long after she’s given birth by emergency Caesarean section to her fifth child, Bunny.
He said Bunny was still in hospital in Chichester at the time and that Katie and her Kieran were making frequent visits, and she had ‘no recollection’ of the offence.
‘It looks like she has decided to keep going as the lights have turned red. As I say, there was a lot on her plate, added to which she was in the process of moving,’ Mr Dale said, adding it was a ‘momentary error’.
Mr Dale said: ‘She apologises for the fact of the late guilty plea but it is a guilty plea. She will find this momentary error plastered across newspapers and magazines. I would ask for just the three points on her licence.’
When asked if she could pay her fine today, Katie said, ‘I can pay it today but I will have to go home to get my credit card. I’ll do it when I get home.’
When discussing Katie’s income with magistrates, Mr Dale said ‘her earnings are very variable. It’s not really possible to say what she earns.’
Addressing Katie, magistrate Mr Dalby said: ‘You have pleaded guilty to the offence of failing to comply with a red light and we are going to deal with this by means of a fine, taking into account everything we have heard.’
As Katie left court she said ‘Thanks a lot, bye’ before she walked out of court along and drove off with Kieran.
