Kerry feels lucky to be alive

Kerry Katona realises she could have all too easily ended up like Amy Winehouse, who was found dead in bed on Saturday.

The reality TV star has been clean for 19 months after a long battle with drug dependency, and knows how hard Amy, too, was trying to get her life sorted out.

‘I could not stop thinking how lucky I was to find the strength that I found to get myself out of the sh*t that I was in,’ says Kerry, 30.

Amy was so young, but I can so relate to what she was doing. It can be so easy to get some drugs in, have a few drinks and lose sight of reality.’

Kerry says her responsibilities to her 4 kids helped her kick her destructive habit but that things could easily have ended differently.

‘I feel so sad about Amy and my heart goes out to all her friends, her family, her fans and everyone who knew and loved her,’ she says.

‘But if you mess with drugs, you’ve got to deal with the consequences before it’s too late.’
