Mark Croft, ex-husband of Kerry Katona, says Max Clifford’s conviction will have shaken her to the core
Her ex-husband Mark Croft, who was also close to the PR guru during the four years he was married to Kerry, says he shudders when he thinks of the crimes the man they became so close to has been convicted of.
Speaking exclusively to Now, Mark, 42, says: Kerry will be shocked and hurt. She’ll be absolutely devastated. Max was her rock for many years. She saw him as a father figure, as she never knew her real father. He even blessed our wedding rings when we got married in Italy in 2007.’
Kerry, 33, only ever met her biological father Ron Armstrong once, when she was a few months old.
She tried to track him down in 2009 using a detective agency but was devastated when he passed away after a battle with throat cancer before she could see him again.
By contrast, Clifford was around to pick Kerry up when she was experiencing the most turbulent times in her life.
He was always there for her, even though they had their spats from time to time,’ Mark tells Now.
She just won’t be able to believe this has happened.’
Last week, 71-year-old publicist Max was convicted of eight out of 11 charges of indecent assault following a trial at Southwark Crown Court and was sentenced to eight years in prison for his crimes.
